ECODESIGN is a Directive of the European Commission, 2009/125/EC, on theecological protection of energy-related products.
One of the founding principles of the company THERMOSTAHL is the innovator’s spirit. That is why we want to proudly announce that our products have obtained ECODESIGN certification.
The aim is to reduce the environmental impact throughout the life cycle, with better product design. Approximately 80% of the environmental impact related to the product can be determined at the design stage. Thanks to the eco-friendly design, money and energy can also be saved. Eco-design (ECO-DESIGN) is an approach that includes designing all stages from concept to finished product in a more environmentally friendly way, starting with the design phase of a product. It is the integration of environmental features into the product design to improve the environmental performance of the product throughout its life cycle.
Proof that a product is aligned with ECODESIGN requirements is the energy label, which must contain the following information:
– the name or trade mark of the supplier;
– the supplier’s model identifier;
– the function of heating the enclosures;
– energy efficiency class, determined in accordance with Annex II; the tip of the arrow indicating the energy efficiency class of the solid fuel boiler shall be placed at the same height as the arrow tip on which the corresponding energy efficiency class appears;
– rated thermal power in kW, rounding to the nearest integer;
What does ECODESIGN mean for solid fuel boilers?
The ECODESIGN Directive has been added to Regulation 2015/1189, which complements standard EN 303-5:2012 (Heating boilers. Part 5: Special boilers using solid fuels, with manual and automatic loading, with useful power of 500 kW or less).
More exactly all ECODESIGN certified boilers meet the EN 303-5:2012 standard EN 303-5:2012 standard on emissions, efficiency, as well as the electricity consumption of boilers. In addition, it provides safety criteria in operation and compatibility with auxiliary automation devices for temperature control and energy saving.
For the first time, the term seasonal efficiency is used, taking into account operation at minimum, nominal and stationary power.
The same rule applies to emissions (CO, dust, volatile organic compounds) which is extended to the measurement of nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions.
In the case of boilers with automatic fuel supply,the following emission thresholds for seasonal space heating have been established:
1. Carbon monoxide emissions must not exceed 500 mg / m3
2. Dust particulate emissions must not exceed 40 mg / m3
3. Volatile compoundand organic emissions must not exceed 20 mg / m3
4. Nitrogen oxide emissions must not exceed 200 mg / m3
The RANGE of PRODUCTS THERMOSTAHL meets the requirements of European standard EN 303-5:2012, with classification in CLASS 5, as well as the requirements of ECODESIGN with an a+ energy class.
